Am I eligible for PM Surya Ghar subsidy?
Any Indian household with a sanctioned electricity connection from a DISCOM is eligible. You must own the rooftop or have the property owner's consent. The property should not have availed solar subsidy previously under any other scheme.
What is the maximum subsidy I can get?
The central government subsidy is ₹30,000 per kW for the first 2 kW, and ₹18,000 per kW for the 3rd kW — maximum ₹78,000 for a 3 kW or larger system. Some states offer additional top-up subsidies. The subsidy is direct benefit transfer (DBT) to your bank account.
How much roof space do I need for a 1/2/3 kW system?
As a rule of thumb, you need approximately 8–10 sq ft of shadow-free rooftop per 100W of solar capacity. A 1 kW system needs ~80–100 sq ft; 2 kW needs ~160–200 sq ft; 3 kW needs ~240–300 sq ft.
Will solar work during power cuts?
Standard grid-tied solar systems shut down during power cuts (for safety). To get backup power, you need an on-grid system with battery storage (hybrid inverter + battery). ARIA offers solar + battery packages specifically for homes that experience frequent outages.
How do I apply for the PM Surya Ghar subsidy?
ARIA assists you through the full application: registering on the National Portal (pmsuryagarh.gov.in), obtaining DISCOM feasibility approval, installing the system, getting DISCOM inspection and net meter installation, and completing the subsidy disbursement application.
